Sirius (Alpha Canis Major) “The Dog Star”

Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. Sirius is located in the constellation Canis Major, which represents Orion’s larger hunting dog. To locate Sirius in the winter night sky just locate Orion’s belt and look to the southeast.
Sirius is located 8.6 light years away from our sun. It is 23 times brighter and has twice the mass and diameter of our sun. It is twice as bright as any other star in our sky.
